June 19, 2009

Does it sound something unexpected? Well, researches have shown that involving children in daily activities like checking total of shopping bills, calculating daily electricity consumption, calculating calories in food, calculating the time to reach home from some place at a particular speed and stuff like that…Oh! We are surrounded by math!

Just exercise a few muscles of your brain and I m sure, you can list down 20 different wacky ways in which we use math in some form or other. The key here is to involve your child in doing these calculations himself or herself. This way, children not only feel involved in daily activities but also understand the importance of math in daily life.

Moreover, unconsciously they are also exercising the logical part of their brain in this process. Getting usual to encounters with math in this way will help to eliminate their phobia for math. It works, try it!
